Mel is an active volunteer in the Tidewater area autism community. My involvement came from meeting and getting to know Mark Llobell and his grandson, Mark Llobell III. As I watched them learn to deal with and conquer challenges together with their family, and started to understand the very real life changes that were involved with an autism diagnosis I knew I wanted to help in some way if I was able. When Mark started working on community projects along with awareness and I asked if he wanted a hand and here we are, ten years later! I’m proud to be working with Mark, Laurie, Hayley and
Jennifer and look forward to working with our community with the creation of
the Virginia Autism Foundation.
